What top US upcoming election candidates think about Bitcoin?

Cryptocurrencies and politics are intertwined. Here’s what the top politicians in the U.S. elections think about cryptocurrencies

Top 5 people in U.S. presidential race and their attitude towards cryptocurrencies.

Cryptocurrencies and politics are not so far apart. In the U.S., presidential elections are approaching, which is now stirring up many people in government. The presidential race promises to be hot, and in an effort to get the upper hand over their opponents, candidates are even turning to the world of crypto assets, accepting donations in BTC for their campaigns. Let’s take a closer look at the position of the five most popular presidential candidates regarding digital assets.

Donald Trump

Trump is definitely not a Bitcoin fan. In 2019 he even expressed his negative attitude to BTC on Twitter.

“I am not a fan of Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrencies, which are not money, and whose value is highly volatile and based on thin air. Unregulated Crypto Assets can facilitate unlawful behavior, including drug trade and other illegal activity….”

Trump’s administration never managed to create appropriate laws to regulate the crypto market. Re-election of the current president doesn’t seem to bring anything useful to Bitcoin.

Joe Biden

Joe Biden has not yet expressed his position on the digital asset market, but judging from his quote on the Internet back in 2011, he supports innovation.

“The Internet itself is not inherently a force for democracy or oppression, for war or peace. Like any public square or any platform for commerce, the Internet is neutral.”

Bernie Sanders

Another presidential candidate also remained relatively quiet in terms of cryptos. However, according to some evidence, he received many donations from major technology companies.

Joanne Jorgensen

The first woman to fight for the presidency, supported by the Libertarian Party, believes in a free market and unlimited competition between banks and financial institutions. Not a word about Bitcoin from her, but if elected, there is hope for a more liberal attitude of the authorities to the economy.

“Also, I would repeal the Bank Secrecy Act, Know-Your-Customer (KYC), and other laws that violate our right to financial privacy. Many people go to bitcoin because they do want privacy so I would work to repeal those unjust laws.”

Kanye West

An unexpected name on the list of candidates — Kanye West announced his desire to participate in the presidential race on July 4. Earlier in his interview with TMZ, he mentioned the first cryptocurrency.

“When I saw Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill, that’s the moment when I wanted to use bitcoin.”
