How to highlight text and share pages with a visual quote and attribution (RiteForge & RiteBoost)

A powerful way to engage with authors is to highlight text and right-click to share the URL with a visualized quote — and if you set your Link Shortening to a Link Ad in your Enhance default preset, your self-branded Rite.ly
Link Ad* goes out on pages you share anywhere.

Set up link shortening in your RiteKit Enhance Settings tab, where you can set Rite.ly and your default Link Ad and get a message or advertisement embedded on URLs in your social posts. Rite.ly ads can be video, image or text Link Ads with full branding, for just $15/month. Rite.ly even has a basic free version, with your login social profile for the Link Ad target.

Here’s the Tweet you see below. See how it looks in Twitter, try the Rite.ly URL from that tweet or https://rite.ly/jP9U.

Since I use Rite.ly with RiteForge and RiteBoost, here’s what my followers and anyone clicking on that Rite.ly get — my Link Ad on Huffington Post:

Whenever possible, the author’s Twitter handle will be included, so you’re crediting them, and often better than the blog or site’s Tweet button or social sharing widget does. The author sees that you not only shared his article, but that you actually read it — evidenced by the text you used for the quote, and the care you put into your hashtag choices.

Note that you can also replace the quoted text in your tweet/post/update once the quote image has been made. Also, if you find that the text doees not look good, or says too much/too little, just change the “quoted text” in the post and hit the Enhance wand again. A new quote image will be made with the new text. For a different font and background image, hit the rotate icon on the image.

Set your Enhance to do what you need by default. You can always override with the pull-down next to Enhance (RiteForge and RiteBoost)

1. Edit your stock Image/GIF Templates and be sure to replace our logo with your own.

2. Modify your default Enhance so that you rarely need to use anything but your default Enhance solution (override with the pull-down beside Enhance in RiteForge and RiteBoost).

Just for some ideas, here’s what I started with in my Enhance Settings, for the defaults:

Even though your default image solution might be to extract from links, you can select your favorite Image/GIF Templates style and save Enhance settings with “Create image/GIF from Template” disabled. This way, when you highlight text and hit the RiteForge browser button, you get both extracted image (default) and quoted text and then, you just X out the one you don’t want.

See how it’s done:

Note that for links shortened with Rite.ly, Facebook and LinkedIn will not accept them. This is beyond our control; FB and LinkedIn are now blocking all short links created of full URLs. So, if using RiteForge, RiteBoost for scheduling posts, we suggest that you do not shorten links for posts you schedule to LinkedIn or Facebook. If just using Rite.ly, even with custom subdomain, please use them in Tweets, emails, IG comments — and everywhere else — just not in FB or LinkedIn.
