Startup Spotlight: Eat Me Global team celebrating their 10,000 download

In February, after a mere two-months of marketing, the Eat Me Global app has 10,000 downloads and 6000 monthly active users. “Being at Hatch has truly transformed our company and made the app more usable through the critical mentorship that we got,” says Jude Kumar, Founder and CEO of Eat Me Global. The company has grown from three employees to twenty in just one year and is looking to expand its services to Dubai this year and in 15 more countries in the next five years.

“Our biggest challenge was to get quality images of each dish. Building a database of 50,000 dishes alone for Sri Lanka required a lot of technical capacity,” says Jude.

Being a startup, the Eat Me Global team was a massive support to this success according to Jude. “If you have the energy to learn and the passion to really get something going, you can do it,” talking about the team’s effort in not only building this massive database but of creating and marketing the app as well.

About the Eat Me App

Eat Me Global wants to help you fix your food cravings. The app lets you search for dishes to order instead of restaurants. For example, if you search for a Paneer Burger, you will get a range of Paneer Burgers and restaurants that have it, with the added information of how far the restaurant is, price, description, review and rating of the dish. Foodies can upload pictures and review dishes to gain app points which they can redeem at partner restaurants.

For partnered restaurants, the app helps advertise dishes as opposed to the whole menu and carry out dynamic marketing promotions based search demand, time of day and weather pattern. Additionally, restaurants can use the app to reduce food wastage by promoting slow-moving dishes thereby pushing us forward in our goal to achieve sustainable food consumption.
