Email Change Experience for Different Services Available Online
It took nearly 40–45 days of effort (maybe I was a bit slow due to other personal complications too) for me to change the email from one to another for almost all the platforms and still many are not done appropriately though.
Configured both these old and new emails in Microsoft Outlook and moved the emails folder by folder manually (as I keep a folder in emails for each of the platforms or groups). Please let me know in the comments if any better solutions for achieving this migration without missing any mail in the process of migration. I started with the finance platforms first as I wanted to make sure there was no mail going from these bank accounts and all to my old mail once the migration was done. But still, responses from some major finance platforms were not so good and some are even yet to email ID changed.
Below notes were scribbled during the process. Thought it is something which will help others who are trying to change their email IDs in the future on these platforms and probably these notes could help them then. So posting it here for a reference.
Not so good experiences
Experience from below platforms were not so good regarding an email change in spite of many being major tech platforms or claim to be having major online presence in their own domains. Not something really expected from these services.
Banks and Finance Platforms
- CIBIL — Not Done and Left It
- The username itself is updated somehow with email. The number they use to send OTP on login is landline number and not updated even on service request.
- CRED — Following Up
- Tried multiple times from Manage Accounts option and it kept on showing as sending some verification mail and nothing came. At last it started giving error as maximum verification mail requests reached.
- Tried to raise ticket in mobile app support and it told to contact support team (without saying the how).
- Send mail to support team. And got reply that support only done through mobile app option.
- Tried repeatedly in the mobile app support system with the questions to hack the AI bot system to get to a human and they done a callback.
- Call told that it is not possible to update the email without any proper reason for it. They claim that all my credit information was fetched in registration with this email and not possible to change it by that. I don’t understand why they can’t move this as a secondary email and add my new email ID also as all my banking details are already updated with this new email ID. Requested for escalation to backend team and they are not ready. Requested for a manager / supervisor escalation and at last agreed for that at least.
- Customer care called back after 4–5 days and requested to share the screen capture to see the issue in email update from mobile app.
- HDFC Bank — Partially Done
- Savings and other accounts profile can be updated online. Only for credit card you need to send letter with application form from
- They somehow updated it again by online requests and further email communications itself. But, still some promotional mails goes to old email. All the transaction alerts at least are coming to new email now.
- IndusInd Credit Card — Following Up
- Sent a mail to their Premium.Care@IndusInd.com twice by now. It is been more than a week and no response from. Not sure what kind of premium care I am getting.
- As per mail reply need to call phone banking and change. Phone banking number for credit cards 18602677777 / 022–42207777
- After umpteen number of tries, it got connected to phone banking and they claimed the email is updated after a lot of verification questions and assured that it will be reflected in 2–3 working days. But, even after almost 9 days of that also, I am seeing the email ID not updated in online banking and transaction alerts are also going to old email still.
- UIDAI Aadhaar — Need to Follow Up
- No option found online to update email or mobile number. Should reach to update centers
Tech Platforms
- HackerEarth — Done
- It was an unbelievable things to me considering they are a major tech platform. But, their customer service was prompt and updated email from backend on request from my current email and confirmation of the same from
- Microsoft Learn — Not Done and Left It
- Will not allow to change your email than deleting existing profile. So I deleted it as it was not having nothing much with my current profile and tried to create a new one with my new email. But the one which was tried to be created with my new email also was asking to create a corresponding outlook email which I do not wanted and left it so by that.
- NSR — Not Done and Left It
- No option to change email unless we pay and activate the ID. So, will do the update whenever an activation of it needed sometime later.
Job Platforms
- FoundIt (Monster India earlier) — Following Up
- Not able to change the email ID. Only option is to delete the account and recreate the whole account with new email.
- TimesJobs — Partially Done
- Able to update communication email. But not the login email ID.
Shopping
- FirstCry — Done
- No option online or in mobile app. Sent mail to customer care
- Customer care called and updated email by a phone verification code and the account stands the same with history as it is.
- InidaMart — Following Up
- Even though it sends OTP for email edit after two attempts, it is not taking that OTP in site and not allowing to change email. Sent mail to customer care.
- Quikr — Done
- No option online. Requested by contact us page in website.
- Backend team changed it.
- Royal Enfield Apparel Store — Following Up
- No option online. Requested by contact us page in website.
- Sent mail to customer care as there is no response from them based on contact us page submission. They replied now saying they are working on it with concerned team.
- TicketNew — Done
- No option online. On contacting customer care they claimed it is synced with PayTM as it is acquired by PayTM now. And it is changed.
Utilities and Services
- ICCI Lombard — Need to Follow Up
- Service request put online updated in the policies. But the login email is still old one and the policy is still linked to that account online.
Travel
- GoIbibo — Not Done and Left It
- No option to change email. Neither have option to delete account so that I can create a new account with the new email and same mobile.
- KSRTC Online Karnataka — Done with New Account
- No option online to change email. Deleted account and created again as I did not have any history to loose.
- Makemytrip — Done
- Remove your mobile number from the account. Create another account with the same mobile number and add your new email ID.
- Skyscanner — Done
- No option online or in app. Should raise ticket from help center in website and they will handle it by the support team.
Networking
Social
- Twitter / X — Done
- No option found to use the same email for multiple accounts if you have multiple Twitter handles. Only option is to remove from one and add in another — Yet to complete the change
- Meta (Facebook / Instagram) — Done
- I just got to remove the old email from account settings page and there after if I try to add new email, it was giving some error and not happening in Facebook page. At last I could do the same from Instagram app account setting page.
Newspapers
- Manorama Online — Done with New Account
- No option found in online account to update email ID or mobile. Send mail to customersupport@mm.co.in requesting the update of email ID.
- Customer care had to cancel the old account so that I could use my mobile number and new email to create new account.
Business News
- Business Standards — Done
- No option online. Sent mail to assist@bsmail.in and they done within no time.
- Economic Times — Not Done and Left It
- No option online. Sent mail to ETPRIME Customer care <care@etprime.com> and they added a ticket for it.
- Customer care replied to create new account and they will migrate the existing subscriptions to it. Left it as I do not have any subscriptions.
Entertainment
OTT Platforms
- YuppTV — Not Done and Left It
- Deleted my account for some personal reasons as they were not giving option to update email online.
- Disney+ Hotstar — Not Done and Left It for Now
- Not possible to update email because it is allowing only login by mobile number and not by email. So, I asked for email removal and still they closed the service request ticket without any proper answer. Looks like their service request tickets were only answered by bots by looking at the generic replies I got and not any humans working for Disney+ Hotstar it seems.
- At last after multiple rounds of communication through email and phone with their customer care, they agreed that their system have some issue in changing the email ID as it is an account registered with email or so. Only option is to delete the old account and create a new one which I do not want to as the history will be lost.
- SonyLiv — Done
- Claims to be possible through WhatsApp number 8591975331. But it did not work in my experience and asking for email details, mobile details, mobile OTP etc. multiple times and ended up with the update
- Zee5 — Following Up
- One of the worst and idiotic customer service too. They claim to update their email through Jio as I was having the subscription through Jio Fiber connection for Zee5 even though my Zee5 account and subscriptions were preexisting even before I stared my Jio connection and subscription for Zee5 from that
- On update from Jio customer care, they share only the mobile number with partner apps. For email update, I should contact Zee5 itself.
Books
- DC Books Store — Done with New Account
- No online option. Requested by customer care email. No option to change email ID. Have to discard this account and create new one. Customer care removed my mobile number from this account so that I can create a new account now.
- Customer care unlinked my mobile number from existing account and created new account with it and new email.
Food
- Pizza Hut — Done with New Account
- No option seen to update email ID. So deleted account and will create again as needed with the new email.
Real Estate
- MagicBricks — Following Up
- Should send mail to support@magicbricks.com
