3 weeks have flown by..

During my short time here I’ve met a number of interesting people, calling them all out in this post means I would struggle to keep within the 400 word limit so will just mention one individual for now — Andy Lin, a ‘UX designer’ by job title but basically a man of many talents it seems. One of the jobs he briefly took me through was his experimentation with Artificial Intelligence (AI) — it’s been purely internal research/testing so far but from a client perspective, everyone is excited about how AI can transform their app or business as a whole. With the future potential of AI being essentially limitless everyone is eager to start integrating AI into their apps as soon as possible.

I asked him where he sees things heading in the industry, his response was that he is finding that personalization will become more and more critical and as an agency they are helping clients deal with this. Developing sites that are user responsive. They are actually able to pull up super detailed personnel information about the user just from an email address (sounds creepy right?).

As Andy says, the starting point is about figuring out what the job at hand is and what the desired outcome needs to be and why is it relevant to the user. Asking these types of questions are key to creating a more personal and beneficial experience. According to Andy, the holy grail of AI is that it knows straight away what you are there for and can personalize the experience to you. He’s an incredibly smart guy and an extremely patient one after the number of annoying questions I bombarded him with!

Outside of the office this week, I’ve spent time exploring the city on my own and with the other lofters (Angel and Andrea), checking out exhibitions, eating way too much at some incredible places and I also managed to get out of town over the weekend.

Looking forward to more in the coming week and soaking up as much as I can before leaving!
