How to Socialyse at #work

In my first week at Boston’s Village, my (great host!) coach Noah introduced me to my team and kept me in touch with all VP directors to schedule one on one meetings and to get a full overview about Boston Village. So, this second week it’s time to Socialyse!

#1 Socialysing with my team

It’s been easy to reach out to my team and observe how they are working side by side. I’ve been involved in most of their meetings. The Social Media business has been growing so fast over the last few years that new specialists have been required to bring a specific point of view in order to get better results in all disciplines and global campaigns. Although I work in strategy in terms of content and creativity in Barcelona, I am trying to learn the technical details and processes of paid social media campaigns in the US. I want to get to know what audiences are like and what types of campaigns perform better in this market.

I’m gaining a full social media overview, however the main difference I can bring back home is the efficiency of the team and their work ethic. I am very impressed by how meetings start and end exactly on time. All projects are defined by allocation and total hours, and there are weekly checks to discuss if the whole team agrees. Time is golden in Boston!!

#2 Socialysing with social media partners

My coach has been inviting me to meet some partners they collaborate with, which is helping me learn the trends and be in the midst of what’s happening in the US market. These meetings usually take place during lunchtime, another example of Boston’s efficiency… I am taking advantage of trying American food!

#3 Socialysing with other areas

During these two weeks, I’ve met many new people around the office including people in the lift and at the coffee machine. The Burnham Building has a collaborative and open-minded working atmosphere, so it’s easy to reach out to people. I’ve been scheduling meetings with managers from other areas to see how they are working and integrating knowledge and strategies for global clients and campaigns. Although work is more or less the same globally, it’s always inspiring to get involved and become close to the local Village values.

How to Socialyse #afterwork

Good conditions and better weather. These are the keys to having the energy to make plans after work or as a break during the day. I am impressed by all the events that take place during the day here. There are groups that go out on runs, play softball and take part in other activities both inside and outside of the Village — all great ways to SOCIALYSE!
