Right in the middle of the city that never sleeps, I found a heaven of peace
I couldn’t have hoped for a better place than New York to live this Havas Lofts experience. For a fresh Frenchie woman arriving in a new city, New York is the perfect place to settle down. Everything is perfectly organized and rational: the streets are cut in squares, the subways aligned with colors and letters, even the lines at the supermarket are amazingly arranged. You cannot get lost. And if you do, just ask anyone in the streets, they will stop and help you. That’s for sure, I made the experience.
I will spend the next month living just a few streets from the Statue of Liberty, the Charging Bull and Wall Street: I became the perfect business woman ready to meet new people, and to learn and share with my friends and colleagues my experiences, feelings and explorations.
I spent my very first day just walking in the streets, looking up at the skyscrapers and trying to guess what kind of people could live in such buildings? Then I realized that there were real people living and working in them, and that I will be part of them for one month. I couldn’t believe when I came out of the 23rd Street Station, that I was just in front the Flatiron Building and few steps away, on the 10th floor, my new office on 5th Ave!
I also couldn’t have hoped for a better place than New York from a professional point of view. The first day I met my coach Fan (programmatic partnership manager at Dailymotion) I knew I will learn a lot about technical aspects of my job, which I didn’t completely overcome yet. In fact I have been directly introduced to people that I am not usually connected with in my current position at Havas Puteaux: the head of Ad Ops, the head of product, the head of programmatic sales, and the chief Ad Tech officer.
Even if Dailymotion is part of the Vivendi Group, they seem to stay autonomous and independent in their organization and decisions process. I remain really curious to learn and understand how Dailymotion does work with the partners they are related to: do they integrate the same Together vision like our other Havas agencies?
The office is really cozy (with sofas and spaces where you can relax) and the atmosphere is warming and peaceful. It’s really different from my home office where people are in the hurry and sometimes the open space can be noisy.
Enough about business — let’s talk about people. Dailymotion in New York is about 30 men and women divided into 2 services. From one hand the AD department, which is focused on the website, the relation with technical and supply partners, the launch of campaigns and all the optimizations we can do (and for the first time I can see that for real and in real time).
On the other hand the Content department is responsible for the videos we choose to put on the platform and the partnership with publisher to use the player. These 2 departments are physically separated but they try to connect with each other in doing shared meetings or more occasionally in having drinks party.
And I arrive at the perfect place and at the perfect time because Halloween is this weekend and I still have not found my costume yet.
