Welcome to la familia!

It has only been one week since I joined the media team at República Havas in Miami, but I feel like I’m already part of a big family. You get this feeling as you step into the agency.

The first thing I noticed from the agency’s culture is their sense of caring, and the perfect example of that is Maria. She’s like a mamá to everyone, making the best coffees in town. Forget the bad americano and enjoy cafecito or café con leche every morning!
Not to mention the warm welcome I received! Oh, and did I speak about Jax, the mascot of the agency? Well, that’s family!

On my first day, Karen & Frances, my two mentors, introduced me to every employee of this full-service agency. Coming from the media side, I must say that finding media and creative under the same roof is kind of refreshing. Even though they don’t always share the same client, it’s impressive to see how smooth it can be to manage a campaign from A to Z — from the creative thinking to the media activation. Everybody is involved to deliver the best work for the client. I’m sure we could gain a lot in terms of flexibility, time-saving and quality — especially for social media campaigns— if we would have the same organization in Paris.
An idea for the Havas Village 2.0?

I should have mentioned first that the agency is a hub for LATAM markets, so everybody comes from different places — Cuba, Peru, Argentina… It’s culturally very interesting — except that I should have definitely learned Spanish instead of German at school.

From a media perspective, here’s a fun fact: did you know that senior Latin-Americans are the ‘new teenagers’ here? In fact, they spend more time on Facebook than their own children, commenting all night and having up to 3 accounts — one for the family, one for friends and one for trolling!

I couldn’t finish this first post without writing a few words about Halloween — it is such a huge cultural thing here and I was lucky to experience it. The least I can say is that they are truly committed to create the BEST room decoration I have ever seen — they literally killed the game! Don’t take my words for granted and check out their Instagram…

What a crazy family! Love it.
