“Where there is no wine, there is no love” — Euripides

After two weeks in Paris, I’m starting to adjust to the culture of Apertif — having drinks and appetizers while socializing after work, with dinner happening much later around 8:30 or 9. Nowhere has this been more relaxing and enjoyable than my current excursion in Bordeaux.

Much to my surprise, Havas Paris closed for two days to celebrate the national holiday of the day of the dead — meaning the other Paris lofter, Caitlin, and I had two unexpected days off- a perfect excuse to take the train a short 2 hours to Bordeaux and enjoy the wine region.

We saw the beautiful historic sites around the city, had a long relaxing lunch along the river Garonne, visited a museum devoted to wines and had Apertif — complete with delicious Crepe — all in our first day!

Day two brought vineyard tours and beaucoup des vins. And appertif avec fromage!

I loved exploring Bordeaux and hope to come back someday. And, I’ve made a lifelong friend through lofts! Through our time together, Caitlin and I have discovered a shared love of wine and cheese and had an amazing visit to one of the most famous wine regions in the world!
