The Brand with the Three Stripes
Adidas, the popular athletic brand known for its three signature stripes, has made a huge comeback over the past year. Adidas, founded in July 1924 in Germany, had fallen off the fashion scene in previous years however; it has since surpassed Under Armour to become the second-best-selling sports footwear maker in the United States.
One of the most popular shoes that Adidas has released is their throwback Superstars. The Superstars, which were initially released in 1969 as low-top basketball shoes, have resurfaced the fashion world for millennials. For me, the Superstars simplistic white and black design goes with every outfit. You can very simply dress the shoe down to something casual with a pair of jeans or dress it up with a something formal, such as a suit. The shoes are clean white with three black stripes and gold lettering labeled Superstar on the side. The laces also aren’t skinny like majority of shoes. The laces on the Superstars are wide making them easy to tie or stuff into the sides.
The shoes are a favorite of mine due to its’ simplicity as well as the comfort. I find that it difficult to find a shoe that is stylish and comfortable at the same time. I have close to 30 pairs of shoes and a lot of them look nice but are uncomfortable after wearing them for three or more hours. However, with these shoes you don’t have to worry about your foot aching after a long day of strolling around campus.
Another reason why these shoes are a favorite of mine is the cost. The Superstars go for a low cost of 80 dollars, compared to shoes such as Jordan’s, Timberland’s, Sperry’s, and Nike’s which could cost you around 100–200 dollars; 80 dollars is a steal!
While people wait in long lines in stores and online for shoes such as Kanye West’s Yeezy Boost or Rihanna’s Puma Creepers, I prefer Adidas’ timeless design that has survived for decades. If you’re looking for a new pair of shoes that are comfortable, affordable, and trendy, I highly suggest purchasing a pair of Adidas Superstars.
