Teachers Need to Be Paid Well—That’s Just a Fact
This is not an article but a rant. I’m pissed off that society does not treat teachers well, pay them fairly, or give them the respect they deserve.
Today, while taking my usual walk, I saw someone I knew from the neighborhood—a guy who was like an older brother figure in the area, or more accurately, a friend to my older brother. I spotted him from a distance. He was coming close, and I wasn’t headed in his direction, so I turned to continue on my planned path.
But as I walked, something about him lingered in my mind.

One thing I know about him is that he’s not doing well financially. And to be clear, this is not me mocking him or putting him down—just stating an unfortunate reality. His career trajectory has been all over the place. When I first knew him, he was a tailor. Before that, someone who knew him longer told me he was actually a teacher. Then, he left teaching to become a tailor. Now, he’s back to teaching.
And that’s sad.
