GAME OF THRONES ANNOUNCES THE NIGHT KING FACEBOOK CAMERA EFFECT
Now, as Game of Thrones fans eagerly await this Sunday’s season 7 finale, they have the opportunity to turn the tables on the Night King, claiming his title and transforming themselves into his icy visage, thanks to an innovative new augmented reality camera effect exclusively on Facebook.
Starting today, fans can access the Night King camera effect by tapping on the camera icon on the top left corner of the Facebook app or by swiping right from their News Feeds to open the Facebook Camera, a new in-app camera/capture experience that is packed with masks, frames, and style effects that users can apply to photos and videos. The Night King camera effect also features a sneak peek at “The Army of the Dead,” a never-before-heard song from the series’ Emmy-nominated composer, Ramin Djawadi. The full song will first be heard in Sunday’s season finale and is also featured on the Season 7 soundtrack, available today at digital retailers.
To create the Night King camera effect on Facebook, the Game of Thrones digital and social media team utilized 3-D scans and textures of the Night King from the show. Creative technology and VFX studio The Mill then stepped in to create a chillingly realistic experience that transforms users into the Night King as he’s seen on screen.
The Game of Thrones social media platforms will be rallying the realm all weekend using #WinterIsHere and giving lucky fans who share their Night King mask videos recognition in the realm. So swipe right within the Facebook app now to turn yourself into the icy Night King — and be sure to check back next week for a fiery new Game of Thrones camera effect to be released post-finale.
