“I love chatbots but it is little complicated”

“This is my first time building a proper bot. I tried building bots before but it was never a success. I finally learned something so I tried really hard this time. For the beginner, I would like to say, building a bot is not an easy task. No wonder why bot building companies charge so much to build a bot these days”

Research shows that out of the approx five hours of our time spent in smart phone, 65% of it is spent in messaging app. What if we built a business here? I already knew it would be a turn point for my ‘travel and tours’ business. But how did I build it? Well, wait for my story to end.

When I first investigated about chatbots, I had no idea how it works. Everything seemed pretty complicated. I tried continuously and took help from the experts. Even though I learned it properly now, I am still confused at times. I still don’t know how to use some features under ‘more’ category.

I still need to go through the manual guide at times. I don’t like chatbot not being able to recognise everything the user says and only being able to handle simple and recorded queries. This forces it to be default response, which makes customers clear that he is talking to a bot rather than a real person.

Well, every story has two sides, right? There are several features in this platform that I loved the most. I think the best feature is being able to build as many blocks as we want and linking them with each other.

“I am always the laziest when it comes to messaging. I like to be as short and precise as possible. “

I assume that there are many people out there just like me. Hence, the chatbot providing options where we can get more information just by clicking on one block to next is the best. I also love how easy it is to use Chatbot to build a flow chart of conversations to gather keywords and answer responses of the customer, helping us in generating lead and solving their problems. I tried building bots through Chatfuel where I was not being able to even get started. I wonder why they need to get access of our Facebook ID before even getting the things started. I didn’t want to connect bot with the facebook page at the very beginning so I felt pretty irritated at the moment. I even tried building bot in Manychat. Even though it helps grow the audience by providing complete set of growth tools. I was not able to use the growth tools and automation features.

I like adding ‘text’, ‘carousel’ and ‘images’ feature the most in my bot because these are the most common and easy to understand features. Being a business person, all we want is to make things easy for our guest. And I think that these features are pretty straight to the point. Even though, ‘Input’ and ‘Go to block’ feature seems to be little complicated but pretty helpful to collect users information. All of these features are helping me with my business. Now, I don’t need to worry about basic customer queries.

However, I still don’t understand what is the need for ‘Quick reply’ when we can make our customers much clear by providing carousel. I also never used ‘Set attributes’ feature. Furthermore, chatbot can’t answer all queries and can sometimes be seen lacking as a personal touch.

Overall, the simple features such as carousel, adding images and videos already serves the main purpose of business. By giving more options to the bot builders, I think things might get complicated. But if you are already an expert, trust me you will love it.
