Sparks of Innovation: Stories from the HCIL
Research at the Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory at University of Maryland
Note from the editor

“Sparks of Innovation: Stories from the HCIL” features popular science descriptions of research, events, and activities at the Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory (HCIL) at the University of Maryland, College Park. The HCIL has a long, rich history of transforming the experience people have with new technologies. From understanding user needs, to developing and evaluating those technologies, the lab’s faculty, staff, and students have been leading the way in HCI research and teaching. In this publication, we extend this tradition to also communicating our research to a general audience in a popular, inclusive, and accessible way.
