Impact Area: Online Communities, Content & On-Demand Services
Roles: Co-Creation, Investing
Stage: Growth

Our innovation journey: Clinical case discussion is a crucial aspect of learning during study and training, and also throughout a medic’s career. Our core vision is to help medical professionals connect with each other and share knowledge in more effective ways. The MedShr app can connects thousands of medical professionals globally to share knowledge and learn from each other. While many already do through WhatsApp or email, these channels are susceptible to privacy breaches and misuse of both personal data and medical images. MedShr fulfills a need that allows medics to make the most of digital technology, while also safeguarding patient data & protecting their privacy.

I’ve been involved with online medical education for over 10 years, and developing MedShr has been a natural progression from an earlier web platform we had developed for cardiologists. The MedShr app enables doctors to share and discuss clinical cases as part of a private, professional network. As CEO & founder, I oversee all aspects of the company and set the strategic goals and vision.

In the short term, we have goals for ourselves in terms of accelerating growth and deepening engagement on the platform. We’re also starting to build revenue streams and develop commercial partnerships that will make MedShr a viable business. Over time, we’d like to implement language localisation to improve the user experience for our global community. We’d also like to see MedShr formally embedded within medical schools and specialty training worldwide as a tool for future doctors’ learning and professional development.

Our HealthCode journey: We’re new to the platform and looking forward to making some connections — there seems to be a wide range of opportunities! We are keen to work with national and specialist societies to connect their members in their own MedShr community through case discussion. There is also an opportunity to work with technology partners using artificial intelligence and machine learning in medical image analysis, where we can support validation and go to market. The third area is supporting medical education and clinical training in collaboration with medical device and pharmaceutical companies.

We would like to partner with clinicians and decision-makers in hospitals & medical practices who can work with us to integrate MedShr into their clinical communities. We would also like to partner with HCo members working in medical education, medical conferencing/events, medical devices or pharma. We’d also love to get clinicians’ feedback on the MedShr app.
