The Revival of The Phoenix Suns

Despite their Finals loss, Devin Booker, Chris Paul, Deandre Ayton and the Valley Boys rose from the West to prove us wrong

The Suns had more than 60 losses and finished the season last place in the division. That was only two years ago. Fast forward to 2021, when they made it all the way to the improbably 2021 NBA Finals. Unfortunately, for these Suns, they couldn’t handle the Greek God himself in Giannis Anttekopumpo with a strong Bucks team of other key players like Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday, and ultimately fell short of their horizon.

Since my beloved Hornets got eliminated, I always love rooting for the underdog and I was rooting for the Suns this season in the playoffs just because of how much I love comeback stories. PHX has had more than one terrible season in recent years, yet made a few key changes to their roster to become playoff- (and Finals-) bound.

The Phoenix Suns are a prime example for other teams to not lose hope and keep their core pieces via drafting and key trades. The fact that this team managed to go all the way from the bottom of the league to the top in such a short amount of time is motivating for other organizations and fanbases in the NBA, and reminds us all that anything in the league is within reach.
