With society rapidly advancing and new innovations in technology constantly popping up, more computer engineers are needed. These innovative workers develop and improve hardware and software by applying computer science and electrical engineering skills. They have to design systems with numerous components, requiring extensive knowledge of software [2]. There are various fields to pursue within this career such as cybersecurity, networking, computer programming, and data analysis. Computer engineers have a passion for STEM; they may have joined a few clubs or taken courses relating to these subjects in their primary and/or secondary school years in order to further their interests or expand their choices. Afterward, these people go on to study for an Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree. These studies will typically last two to four years and will most likely specialize in hardware or software, depending on which direction they want to go in. Hardware engineering consists of researching, developing, and testing computers, whereas software engineering focuses on the development of systems and programs. During these years, students will be able to explore their different interests within their chosen specializations, from microprocessing to computer science and beyond [3]. While this degree(s) is enough to receive an entry-level position as a computer engineer, higher-paying jobs usually require a Master’s Degree. Studying for this degree will introduce engineers to challenges and broaden their expertise. With a doctoral degree or Ph.D., there is a greater chance of being promoted to high-ranking positions [4]. Furthermore, being a computer engineer requires having various skills and qualities, such as critical thinking, being a good communicator, and being analytical. They must be able to learn from mistakes and work with others in their effort to improve society.

Although this career is expected to grow only two percent within the next decade, computer engineers can make anywhere from $50,000 to $150,000 annually, depending on their education and how many years of experience they have. There are many other benefits along with the income, such as the different fields to pursue, traveling freedom, financial security, and the chance to work in an amazing environment filled with discoveries and inventions [5]. Being a computer engineer is a great career to choose if you have the passion and drive for working with technology.
