Sunsets in Mexico
Every day, we went to the beach at the same time. I tell you straight up that the sunsets over the Sea of Cortez are not to be missed. Cooler conditions also make it more refreshing. Daytime temperatures can be extreme with the blazing heat and blinding sun. Sipping in the shade on refreshing Margheritas in the late morning, early afternoon is a better alternative.
It’s 5 o’clock somewhere, right? We preferred the temperate evening conditions and front row tickets to the light show. The water, still warm and is an ideal time for a dip!
We did our daily countdown. It’s time to go we’d shout with anticipation and with that, our excitement would build. Staying super close to the beach, a 2-minute drive! I remember the modest hill en route to the beach, we could not see the beach from our place, but we could hear the sea sing to us from time to time. The beauty with the sea is that is constantly changing.
Bizarrely, I preferred this location compared with the beachfront because it added to our daily adventure. It brought a little intrigue and excitement as we approached the apex of the hill to see what beauty awaited us.
The colours that remind me of the late beach visits were in full effect that particular evening, purple, red, orange, and yellow. There was this enchanting purple haze, it felt dreamy. Speaking of dreams, I was off on one, thinking was there anyone over on the other side of Baja looking our way. I have been told it’s roughly 90 miles across to the other side.
At this moment, the incredible pic was captured. The sunset sandwiched between purple sea and sky. The mystery of the silhouette? It could be any person with a dream staring at the meeting point of sea and sky.
Another titbit? Just me and my girlfriend on the beach! How is this possible? Well, when you are at a remote location, Rocky Point to the North, Caborca to the East, Desemboque to the South, all the while being immersed in a unique beach community, it’s very possible!
Well, I do somewhat tell you a lie. We had pleasant company with our marine friends. Pelicans, dolphins, starfish, and turtles to name a few. Reminiscing about that evening, it truly was a precious sea world treasure for us to enjoy!
