Staring at bright screens for hours on our phones and laptops takes a toll on our bodies and minds.

Thanks to technology, it’s now a big part of our everyday lives.

Everyone, from kids to adults, is spending more time in front of screens. It seems like we’re all becoming slaves to technology.

Parents often give smartphones to their kids just to keep them quiet. Making them sort of addicted to technology from a very young age.

But that’s not what we’re discussing today.

Today, let’s dive into how this increasing screen time is affecting our health.

I’m starting a series on this, and I’ll be sharing the next part as soon as I finish writing it. Keep an eye out for more!

It will be divided into two categories-

Physical health, Mental health

Physical health

  • Eye health- First contact is the eyes, increasing screen time causes Eye Strain and Discomfort. It will lead to blurred vision and headaches.
  • Irregular sleep- The radiation emitted from the screen interferes with our sleep cycle causing sleep deprivation which is ultimately a problem for many physical as well as mental health.
  • Sedentary lifestyle- Higher intake of screen time involves sitting for a long duration, and lack of physical activity causes many issues from obesity, and cardiovascular health issues to musculoskeletal discomfort (back, neck, and wrist pain).

Mental health

  • Increased anxiety and depression- Remember when you endlessly scroll reels and suddenly you feel discomfort, breathing heavily, don’t know why. The reason is the constant consumption of social media content.
  • FOMO (Fear of Missing Out)- The feeling of being left behind in life, self-sabotaging after seeing viral content on the internet.
  • Cyberbullying and Online Harassment- The dark side of the internet takes over when screen time increases. This is becoming so common now everyone thinks that it is ok, to just open a comment box from a viral reel from your feed, you will see that people are commenting shit on looks, and gender, and they think that is cool.

NO, YOU ARE FOOL

After spending the whole day at work, we seek entertainment also on screen.

What we can do now, everything is becoming digital, you can binge-watch any series and movie but that is not going to clear your mind.

So, What’s the solution

You have to wait for the next part.

I’m in the process of completing the draft for the next part.

While you wait, share your thoughts on additional health problems that could be at risk due to increasing screen time.

And Feel free to clap 50 times…
