A few years after our son regressed into autism, one of our practitioners recommended Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) for him.

HBOT enhances the body’s natural healing process by inhaling 100% oxygen in a total body chamber, where atmospheric pressure is increased and controlled.

With HBOT, oxygen is dissolved into all the body’s fluids, plasma, central nervous system fluids, lymph, and bones and can be carried to areas where circulation is diminished or blocked.

In this way, extra oxygen can reach damaged tissues and the body can support its own healing process. It’s a non-invasive and painless therapy that can help kids with autism improve overall functioning, receptive language, speech, and eye contact.

A minimum of 40 hours of therapy is recommended, with the dives costing around $150 per hour of treatment at a facility (for a total of $6000). We opted to invest in an in-home chamber instead of going to a facility, because it would be easier to control the environment and schedule for our son.
