12 Habits I Quit After an Oncologist’s Warning to Cut Cancer Risks
My friend’s chilling cancer facts changed my life. Will they change yours?
I never dreamed that a simple evening conversation with an old friend, an oncologist now, would completely alter my lifestyle.
I’m sure you can imagine. I invited him over on a humid evening in Mumbai, thinking it would be a good time to relive old college days and have a laugh, that techie-style reunion vibe.
Over the course of two tea cups, what he shared about cancer got under my skin. Not scared, but wide-eyed, alert, aware. A long time has elapsed since then, but every time I see a bottle of sunblock or contemplate pouring a second glass of wine, his voice resonates in my mind.
I like to think I’ve made some conscious choices since then. They are not hard and fast commitments, he stated firmly that there are none. Cancer can strike anyone, even the fittest.
But I can at least minimize my risks where I can. So, here is what I never do or eat anymore because of my oncologist friend, choices I hope will tip the odds just a little more my way.
