Like many other doctors out there, I have found myself amidst a cancer enigma trying to understand factors impacting cancer management and their associated mortality risk. In pursuing to learn more on this topic, I stumbled upon an exciting research highlighting the relationship between loneliness and cancer survival.

As an individual and a medical professional who has realized first-hand the impact of loneliness on our lives, it never comes as a surprise to me how vital its impact can be on cancer survival.

Loneliness is the intertwined complex emotional state encompassing social isolation, a sense of social disconnect, and a lack of companionship. This can be a daunting experience for any cancer survivor, negatively impacting their quality of life and overall health.

Medical observations have already shown that most cancer survivors who report feeling lonely are less likely to follow medical recommendations. They are also less likely to engage in healthy lifestyles and behavior.
