My wife and I developed a keen interest in our son’s health. As attentive and doubtful as we were, we wanted to be in control of everything that happened to him.
And, as with everything in this life, besides disadvantages there are also benefits to this.
We’ve been to the hospital several times since our son was born. At three weeks old, he had to have surgery.
I slipped into a website for a paediatric group before this surgery. I learnt everything I could about the different kinds of surgery that could be done, as well as the risks and problems that might happen and the choices that doctors might have to make.
We’ve seen a lot of doctors who mindlessly follow set rules and procedures, even when it’s not necessary. And we learned that we will need to do a lot of things on our own to take care of our son’s health.
Doctors frequently failed to deliver on their promises, often supported by meaningless statements.
