healthbank — your “health data wallet” travelling the world

In the last episode, we already highlighted one particular aspect of how healthbank can contribute to cross-border health management: medication. How neat it would be to have your medication history in one place that you can share with pharmacists and doctors whilst being abroad. In this episode, however, I wish to highlight that there is so much more than “just” medication!

To us at healthbank, the real value of having all medical records in one place really is travelling — for which I want to bring a second prime example of a world traveler: nearly 40 years old, a little overweight, European, never left the civilized world. Going to the tropical climate zone for the first time. Jungle in South East Asia. Very wild animals. And very strange diseases.

Now, in Europe we have quite a few and great preparation places for such trips, called “tropical disease centers” that prepare with good consultation, vaccination options etc.

But what if the world traveler, despite of being well-prepared, still caught a severe disease in this jungle? What if the hospital or doctor that this traveler sees, would not have to test on Dengue, Yellow and whatever fever — but instead has the entire health-medication-vaccination history available at a fingertip? What if the latest blood test results were available at a glance, the last allergy information saved in your very own personal health vault?

Well — we would say: then it’s of real benefit for the user that travels the world. Treatment could be undergoing much faster, much safer and much more personalized.

What if all these benefits would not need to unfold in a jungle but in every single destination our world travelers go to all over this planet? And what if all this was simple, cross-border, patient-owned and patient-controlled?

We would say: then it’s healthbank & YOUR “health data wallet” travelling with you wherever you go.
