healthbank — your holistic fitness monitor

When you think about healthbank and storing medical data safely, most healthy and very active people might think “well, that’s not really for me, is it?”

Most of these people would rather monitor their activity via their fitness tracker like Fitbit, Garmin or Apple Watch. They would rather build their nutrition diary on their smart phone and monitor their weight, body fat and body water percentages on their smart scale at home. Plus taking the odd selfie at the gym for monitoring their weight-loss progress.

However — what would these fitness geeks say if they could change their fitness devices seamlessly, for example continue using Fitbit when they got tired of their Garmin device (or vice versa), and get a harmonized data history where all data of the past and future really is comparable? What if this data could be interpreted on a medical level, adding knowledge about stress level and sleep quality to your history? What if you can see and manage all this data in your healthbank web console, combined with nutrition, weight, meditation activity, blood pressure and so on?

And what if you can share this data with your doctor without getting ‘the look’? I mean the look that this data may not be medically accurate and where you could then reply with “well, at least I have a long-term history on a somewhat accurate fitness monitoring and not just a snapshot with one 24-hour-ECG”?

Ok, to be fair: we’re not completely there yet — but we’re working hard on it. With our partners from Thryve, we provide a single-API solution that connects your healthbank account with more than 200 wearable devices. We’re also working on an integration of nutrition diaries and other lifestyle apps. We are planning to integrate IoT devices (e.g. smart scales etc.) and even integrate medical-grade monitoring devices in specific disease fields.

Why are we doing this? Well, not only to serve the healthy people — but to support what our community wants so bad: A shift from cure towards a healthy lifestyle, thus prevention!
