The several benefits of the cannabis plant support the industry built around it. And although many studies have already revealed what prominent cannabis compounds such as cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) have to offer, it seems that there are still other potential benefits to uncover.

CBD has been commonly known as a good supplement for patients undergoing cancer treatments. According to the American Cancer Society, marijuana helps relieve nausea and vomiting in chemotherapy patients. Citing some studies, the health organization added that people who consume cannabis during chemotherapy need painkillers less. It also reiterated that relying solely on the plant for cancer treatment is ill-advised and could lead to serious health consequences.

What’s very promising, however, is the scientists’ discovery of THC and CBD’s capabilities of slowing the growth or even killing certain types of cancer cells. A few organizations seek to fully uncover the cancer-fighting potential of cannabis, and some researchers may have inched in closer to a groundbreaking discovery.

Cancer-positive mice showcases better survival rates following CBD treatment

Researchers from the Queen Mary University of London and Curtin University, Australia are currently working on a study that dives deep into the cancer-curing potential of CBD.

Citing the study published in Oncogene, Medical Xpress reported that pancreatic cancer-positive mice treated with the compound had better survival rates than those treated only with a standard chemotherapy medication called Gemcitabine.

Queen Mary University of London’s Prof. Marco Falasca, the study’s lead researcher, said that the subjects treated with CBD survived three times longer. He added that since the said substance is already approved for use in clinics, they can immediately go forward with their research through human clinical trials. If successful, it can be used in cancer clinics just as fast.

The company situated to catch the growing demand for CBD

This is good news for cancer patients worldwide as it could be the dawn of better treatment options available for them. The even better news is that the CBD market is already brimming with top-tier brands that deliver high-quality products. Sitting at the top of the chain is PotNetwork Holdings, Inc. (OTCMKTS:POTN).

POTN is equipped with a vast understanding in the research and development of CBD products. The extracts it provides to subsidiary Diamond CBD, Inc. is used for the creation of various flavored oils, edibles, capsules, tinctures, vape additives and more.

However, POTN and Diamond CBD’s competitive edge is not the expansive selection of products but their efforts to provide only CBD extracts of the highest quality as possible.

The company manually handpicks hemp plants for the extraction process. The chosen plants then go through supercritical CO2 extraction, which isolates the naturally occurring beneficial compound from the hemp. Once the extract has gone through processing, it goes through another quality check to further ensure that it is pure CBD.

Its products continue to be in demand even if competition in the CBD industry continues to grow fiercer. Diamond CBD attended the recently concluded ASD Market Week, and it left the premiere trading show with over 400 new orders for its products.

CBD is progressively becoming prominent in the medical field. And now that its potential to help treat cancer is being uncovered, it has further solidified its place as a disruptor in health and wellness.
