2. Edible Seeds: — Oilseeds are a tiny however they contain a good amount of healthy fats which are absolutely great for your heart and also are a rich source of antioxidants. You must have heard of healthy seeds include flax, sesame (black and white), chia, sunflower and pumpkin. Each of the type has unique constitution of nutrients.
As these seeds contain high amount of fats in them, should be eaten wisely. These may make a good nutritious snack item.

3. Healthy Dessert: — Yes you heard it right! After turmeric latte in 2018, it may be the time for healthy desserts!
Chocolate hummus is something people may try and love this year. Along with this, brownies made up of almond flour without sugar is one of the examples of healthy desserts people may indulge in this year. These would be a good alternative to the regular high fat and high sugar desserts.

4. Low-Carb Diet: — Low-carb diet emphases on high intake of animal protein and restricts or bans the consumption of carbohydrate. This is a popular diet since it is supposed to give great and faster weight-loss results. Given the buzz, let’s check is it really a trend to be followed?

Lowering or avoiding consumption of simple carbohydrates i.e. refined sugars is a perfect way of following a healthy diet.

However avoiding the good carbs won’t help! By now, we all know that dietary fiber is good for health. Complex carbohydrates contain fiber. For example, whole grains (cereals and pulses), legumes, whole veggies and fruits are complex carbohydrates. If the intakes of these carbs is very low in the diet or removed completely from the diet, we will lack the essential nutrient that is fiber, which may adversely affect our health.
Hence instead of a low-carb diet, following a low or no refined sugar diet is a better idea.

5. Colorful Diet: — People now are interested in stocking up on foods with a lot of colors in them.
As we are now aware that the color pigments in fresh veggies, fruits, beans, grains etc., are excellent sources of antioxidants which have a variety of health benefits. As we all know antioxidants helps in fighting with harmful substances called free oxidative radicals that damage our body.
Experts suggest that potent antioxidants help prevent diseases such as diabetes, heart diseases, cancer, may also help control and manage stress, prevent macular degeneration (supports vision) and are anti-aging in nature.
So yes, including various fresh colors in your diet is definitely a thumbs-up when well balanced with other food groups as well.

Bottom Line

Any diet that asks you to avoid a particular food group completely is not a viable diet and it cannot become a lifestyle either. It may give weight-loss results faster but not for long. In the bargain it may lead to certain side effects such as excessive hair loss, muscle loss, lowered immunity etc.
The results of following the same diet differ from person to person. It may or may not work for you. Therefore, it is recommended that you consult your nutritionist/doctor before going on any kind of a diet plan.
