Prison pictures

Behance creator, David Altrath’s spent a few months photographing the most diverse jails around Germany for his photo series entitled “JVA” — the German abbreviation for the term ‘Justizvollzugsanstalt’.

In the German language, this is another word for a prison authority figure who carries out prison sentences.

This series definitely gave me a Wes Anderson vibe, with its beautiful bright colors, and symmetrical shots, but what is most interesting is how David’s going in a very different visual approach to photographing prisons as most would think. When I think of ‘prison photography’ I’m thinking it includes the people and their quality of live (or lack thereof), or just what their lives are like. David instead is showcasing the architecture and the space, removing the people altogether.

Neumorphism

It got recognized from Dribbble user alexplyuto

Neumorphism is a new term for “New skeuomorphism”, called by Jason Kelley. It started from the top image, from one Dribbble user.

Neumorphism cards pretends to extrude from the background, where as a Modern card usually is a surface floating on top of other elements, and it cast shadow onto it.

Although it there are some frictions when it comes to actual usability, this is definitely an interesting / pleasing design to look at.

The ultimate guide to proper use of animation in UX

This guide is packed with animations explaining the details of animation best practices

This is a very impressive guide that a User Experience and Interaction Designer put together in order to collect all the best practices into one place. He did a bunch of really helpful and easy to understand animations explaining the do’s and dont’s of animation, that’s while it’s really fun to browse through, and it’s also really useful. He also explains the reasoning behind why these rules exist (usually because of actual laws of physics).

Duration and speed of the animation — don’t go too slow!
Easing — use easing!
Equal interaction - the appearance of all objects obeys to one particular rule.
