In the busy hallways of hospitals and crowded waiting rooms of clinics, where the beep of monitors and smartphones has been constant lately, a new phenomenon has circled. That is the buzz of nomophobia. Standing for “no mobile phone phobia,” this term encapsulates the anxiety and discomfort many people feel when detached from their digital lifeline.
Based on recent reports, it seems evident that even healthcare providers are not immune to the pervasive existence of nomophobia. According to these studies, over 99% of healthcare professionals worldwide met the no mobile phone phobia criteria. Stunningly, a significant portion of the affected providers experienced moderate to severe cases of nomophobia.
The study findings point to startling statistics that speak volumes about the severity of digital dependencies, especially among healthcare professionals.
