In the recent decade, the discussion over the topic of systemic racism against indigenous populations has gained a lot of attention.

Based on my limited investigation, the claims of systemic racism overlapping the higher rates of Indigenous deaths within healthcare settings have been alarming. I believe this pings on us to demand an impartial evaluation of this trend with an unbiased attitude.

However, before everything we must understand what systemic racism is all about!

Systemic racism is about policies, practices, and cultural representations that reinforce and spread inequity based on race, affecting anything from differential access to medical services to biases in treatment decisions.

Here, we see how racism exploits our healthcare systems. Let’s keep in mind that this is not about prejudice against individuals but about how institutions operate in ways that undermine the interests of certain racial groups.
