Hey 2016, it’s been a wild ride.

You’ve had your ups and downs and, somehow, you’re already over. However, before we welcome 2017 with open arms, let’s have one last hurrah.

If you want to impress at your holiday house party, you’ll have to pull out all the stops. That’s why Foie Gras with Cranberry Chutney is the recipe you HAVE to try before 2017.

It sounds real fancy, but it’s not particularly hard to make. Here’s what you’ll need:

Cranberry Chutney:
1 cup water
3/4 cup white sugar
1 (12 ounce) package fresh cranberries
1 cup apples — peeled, cored and diced
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice

Assemble:
In a medium saucepan combine the water and sugar. Bring mixture to a boil over medium heat. Add the cranberries, apples, cider vinegar, raisins and spices. Bring to a boil, then simmer gently for 10 minutes stirring often.

Pour mixture into a mixing bowl. Place plastic wrap directly on the surface of the sauce. Cool to room temperature and serve or cover and refrigerate. Bring chutney to room temperature before serving.

Foie Gras:
1 package of foie gras mousse (you can actually just buy this pre-made to save time)

Toast:
White bread
Butter
Cookie Cutter

Assemble:
Cut bread into circular shapes with your cookie cutter
Lightly brush with butter
Toast bread

Once all the parts are made, use a small spoon to place the cranberry chutney between your two pieces of toast. Add the foie gras mousse to the top and garnish as you like!

If you give this recipe a try, let us know how it goes over! Have a great rest of the year and happy holidays!

Cheers :)
