Why you should eat dessert first

“Stressed” spelled backwards is “desserts.”

Eat dessert first and leave the stress behind.

Okay so it’s not that simple. However, it makes sense to ditch the box of sugary cereal and start your day with a healthy fruit and yogurt parfait. Further, Dr. Trivedi thinks it’s better to eat dessert during the day rather than at the end of the day.

“One is more active during the day time , so eating the dessert, and calories derived from it. The day time will be utilized for various activities whereas before bed time the calories are stored in the body as fat.” — Dr. Nayana Trivedi

Following this logic, you shouldn’t feel guilty indulging in a sweet treat while it’s still light out. However, that doesn’t mean you should run out and grab a donut and sugary coffee. If you make your own dessert using fresh ingredients, that makes more sense than chowing down on processed foods.

A good way to satisfy your sweet tooth is to reach for natural sugars, like fruits. Of course, this is only fine in moderation, however, you can get creative with a fruity dessert and turn it into a healthy breakfast.

To help you out, we’ve put together a few quick and easy recipes so you can eat dessert first!
