  • Kathika Deepam: 6 December — A Festival of Lights observed mainly by Hindu Tamils.
  • Bodhi Day 8 December — Day of Enlightenment celebrated in the Buddhist faith.
  • Hanukkah — The Festival of Lights celebrated in the Jewish faith, is observed for eight days and nights.
  • Día de la Virgen de Guadalupe 12 December — The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe is celebrated in Mexico and commemorates the day Mary appeared to Juan Diego in 1531.
  • Pancha Ganapati 21–25 December — A five day Hindu festival celebrating Ganesha, the Hindu deity of arts, culture and new beginnings.
  • Christmas Day 25 December — Celebrated by many people around the world, secular and religious. Christmas day commemorates the birth of Jesus in the Christian faith.
  • St Stephen’s Day 26 December — commemorates a Christian Saint, Saint Stephen.
  • Kwanzaa 26 December to 1 January — A celebration of African-American culture united in Nguzo Saba (The Seven Principles), with each day honouring one principle.
  • Ōmisoka 31 December — A Japanese traditional holiday in preparation for a new year and fresh beginnings.
  • Yule — A Pagan winter festival historically celebrated by the Germanic people.
