Feeling exhausted at the end of the day? If so, you’re not alone. Many people experience chronic fatigue and struggle to work efficiently, if at all.

This was me not so long ago and I needed a change. Fortunately, there are several quick and easy tips you can use to give yourself more energy throughout the day and accomplish everything on your to-do list. In this article, we’ll share seven ideas that will help you get more done with less effort.

Hydrate

Drinking plenty of water is essential for overall health and well-being, but it’s also key to maintaining energy levels. When you’re even slightly dehydrated, you can feel tired and sluggish. Experts recommend drinking roughly 11 cups of water per day for the average woman and 16 for men. Carry a bottle with you throughout the day so that you’re never caught without your energy source.

Exercise

Regular exercise is one of the best ways to boost your energy levels. It gets your blood flowing and helps you sleep better at night. Plus, it can help improve your mood and mental sharpness. Here are a few tips to get started:

  1. Find an activity you enjoy. If you hate running, don’t force yourself to do it. There are plenty of other options out there, from biking to swimming to Zumba.
  2. Start small. If you’re not used to exercising, begin with just 10 minutes a day. Once it becomes a habit, you can gradually increase the time you spend working out.
  3. Set realistic goals.

Eat well

Eating nutritious foods helps your body to function at its best. When you feel run down, it’s often because you’re not eating enough of the right foods. To boost your energy, make sure to eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Also, be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day.

Avoid sugar

You might think that grabbing a candy bar or a sugary coffee will help you power through your afternoon slump, but in reality, sugar will only give you a quick burst of energy followed by an inevitable crash. Not to mention, too much sugar can lead to weight gain, diabetes, and other health problems.

So instead of reaching for the candy jar, try one of these seven tips to boost your energy and get more done.

  • Avoid caffeine after 3 pm: Drinking caffeinated beverages during the day may help you stay awake and focused, but they’ll likely keep you up at night.
  • Stay hydrated: Drinking plenty of water is crucial for maintaining energy levels throughout the day, as well as staying healthy. Try setting a timer on your phone to remind yourself to drink water every hour.
  • Exercise: A lack of physical activity has been linked with feelings of fatigue, so make sure to include at least 30 minutes per day (and not right before bedtime). If you find it difficult to squeeze in exercise time during the workday, head outside or hit the gym after work.

Use technology in moderation

You may be surprised to know that one of the best ways to boost your energy is to use technology in moderation. When you’re glued to a screen all day, it can take a toll on your energy levels.

Make sure to take breaks throughout the day to move your body and get some fresh air. You’ll be amazed at how much better you feel and how much more productive you can be.

Take breaks

When you’re feeling overwhelmed or bogged down, it’s tempting to just work harder and push through the fatigue. But that’s not always the best solution. Sometimes, what you need is a break. Stepping away from your work for even a few minutes can help refresh your mind and give you the energy you need to power through.

Sleep well

Most people need around eight hours of sleep per night. Consider going to bed and waking up at the same time each day to help regulate your body’s natural sleep rhythm. Establish a regular pre-bedtime routine to wind down for the night, such as reading or taking a bath.

Keep your bedroom dark, quiet, and cool to create an optimal environment for sleep. Reserve your bed for sleep and sex to help strengthen the association between your bed and rest.
