Cyber security is often a field that everyday Internet users like you and me have a difficult time relating to.

To tell the truth, before joining this field, I was blissfully unaware of the many dangers that loom around every corner of the web. But now that I know a bit more, I feel compelled to help others learn how to protect themselves against the very serious cyber threats that can empty their pockets or hurt them in other ways.

So one way that I found to be effective in helping others acknowledge that they need to pay more attention to information security is to do a quick assessment of how they behave online. That’s exactly why I created this quiz, to help you see where you stand and what you could do better.

The best part is that it’s fun to do, it doesn’t take up too much of your time and it won’t feel like a hassle (like, for example, installing antivirus on your computer may feel like). Plus, you’ll learn something from it and get actionable advice at the end.

Your cyber security personality will tell you what you can do to protect yourself, but it’s just the tip of the iceberg. You’ll see why. But now…

Let’s go for it, shall we?

Take the quiz here.

Did the result you got surprise you? Did it make you think that maybe you need more protection online?

Let me share just one idea that caught my eye a while ago and really stuck with me ever since. It’s what happens when you start learning about cyber security to better protect yourself.

It all boils down to Martin McKeay’s Twitter bio, which reads :

I never thought I’d say I wasn’t paranoid enough.

No matter the result you got on this test, there’s one piece of advice I think we can all follow: to maintain a healthy paranoid attitude about the software and devices we use, about the personal data we share and how it’s managed.

It’s exciting to live surrounded by technology, but we have to acknowledge that it makes our lives both easier and more complicated at the same time. And enjoying protection is a basic need that we need to have fulfilled in order to be productive and at peace.

So if you took the time to read this, give it one more moment to download the guide and apply the steps inside. You’ll get peace of mind and maybe start a new interest in how cyber security can positively impact your life and the lives of your loved ones.
