When Taylor Swift blessed the world with her 2012 track ‘All Too Well’, fans couldn’t have possibly predicted the long-lasting impact the song would have not only on Taylor's career; but on their lives.

‘All Too Well’ was a notable standout on the Red album. It was more subtle than her other hits. It wasn’t an earworm, but it left its mark all the same. The lyrics resonated so much with fans that the song began to materialize mythology, of which the most important piece of lore was a scarf left at a lover’s house, first mentioned 31 seconds into the song.

I left my scarf there at your sister’s house and you’ve still got it in your drawer even now

Without a music video, fans had to attach their own imagery to the song, which subsequently made the track just as personal to the listener as it was to the creator. It wasn’t just the imagery around the scarf that carried this song into ‘masterpiece’ territory, but the imagery imbued into every line.
