Today I had coffee with my going through a divorce self.

She was heartbroken over the loss of her dreams. She was worried about her kids. She felt scared. She felt alone

I told her this was going to be hard. She would cry a lot. Unexpected things would trigger her grief. She would feel lost for awhile

And she would be okay.

I told her there would always be things that she missed. The Christmas mornings she wakes up to a quiet house would always hurt her heart. She would feel angry for awhile. She would doubt that things were going to work out.

And she would be okay.

I told her she would lose more than her marriage. She would lose friends. She would lose future memories. She would lose so many things she wanted for her life.

And she would be okay.

I told her though she might feel alone, she never was. She would feel love through the actions of her true friends. Even in her darkest times, she was always supported. The darkness was here to give the light a place to shine.

And she would be okay.
