If you’ve read my work on Medium before, you will know that I’ve had a mixed history with dating apps. For the time being at least, I am on a dating app sabbatical. I’m not sure how long this will last, but for now, I am content to have my phone “app free”. This has led me to ponder what would it be like to go back to the apps.

What would I do differently to ensure my experience was not the same as I outline in my previous article on dating apps over 50, which you may find here if interested.

In my ponderings about the things that keep a woman from swiping right, there are a lot of things a man shouldn’t do and a few things that he should.

Most of these are basic, common sense, but since they are still all too prevalent, I’m going to review the highlights here. When it comes to pictures, there are big no no’s. Please don’t post a fish picture or bathroom selfie. Ok, this should be a given, but apparently, it isn’t. If you’re taking a selfie in your living room, make sure that the scattered dirty laundry on your couch isn’t visible. Dirty laundry in a picture is an immediate swipe left.
