Protecting Yourself from Toxic In-Laws — What to Do When Your Spouse Won’t Help.
Three strategies when your husband won’t have your back.
I’m beyond annoyed and frustrated, so I need to vent about my brother-in-law, who never fails to surprise me with his immature antics, even though he’s over 40 and an accomplished entrepreneur.
Here’s the story: earlier this morning, right after a meeting (yes, this is still fresh), my brother-in-law, who didn’t even bother to send a simple birthday wish a few weeks ago, decided to leave a sarcastic comment on one of my LinkedIn posts. This post has gotten quite a bit of attention, including from some renowned professionals and even the CEO of the company I work for.
His comment was not only uncalled for but also downright embarrassing, especially in such a professional setting. It felt like a deliberate attempt to undermine me, and I’m frustrated by his complete lack of consideration and maturity.
Seeing that LinkedIn notification was like a punch to the gut.
My stomach dropped, and I felt my chest tighten — a wave of anxiety and anger all at once. My first thought was to check if I could delete his comment without taking down the entire post I had proudly crafted a day before.
