Everyone should discuss many important topics to develop their opinions on relationships and the world in general. Some are annoying and silly, such as who pays for the first date. Others are crucial, such as whether people from different religions or opposite views can form good relationships and raise children. The conversation on having kids and whether you want any is monumental, just like many others.

I enjoy discussing such topics with others because this helps me learn about other folks' views, explore different opinions, and form my own. At times, such conversations get heated, but that's expected. I also find it necessary to assess who the people in your close circle are and whether you want to be friends with them. For example, if someone tells me consent is optional, I'll drop that friendship faster than Starbucks aficionados from their plans for a BOGO coffee deal. No one wants to be around someone like that.

One topic I've been passionate about over the years is whether women should financially support men the way men are expected to support women. I hear all kinds of opinions and try to suppress my own when asking others to establish what they think. I am, however, very opinionated on the…
