What The Online Dating Industry Doesn’t Want Single People To Know

Dating apps have become like chewing gum. The more we chomp on them, the less favorable they get. Unfortunately, they aren't going away. According to a recent survey from YouGov.com, one-third of single people now use a dating app to find a partner.

But while users are spraining their thumbs swiping, they also are ready to throw their phones through a plate glass window. According to a 2020 Pew Research Center study, only 57% of users report an "overall positive experience" on dating apps.

What if a restaurant had only a 57% approval rating? You might assume their food is terrible or the service is poor. So why do we keep using a product with a crappy menu and poor service?

The latest research has some answers.

There isn't any accountability.

While apps like Bumble reported a 38% increase in revenue last quarter, you won't find any data on how many people deleted the app because they found true love. They only tout glowing claims for "matches."
