When Your Husband Chooses Reels Over Real Life.
What would you do?
Our child was sick today, so we had to keep him home. Managing a home office with a sick kindergartener — who’s just well enough to get bored and invent all sorts of noisy games during your meetings — is challenging, to say the least.
Both my husband and I had busy workdays, each holed up in our respective rooms, glued to our laptops, while keeping an ear out for what mischief our son might get into next. Between meetings, I was cleaning the house and preparing meals, leaving me exhausted by the time the workday finally ended.
But when the workday ended, the work didn’t. Household chores and taking care of our son were still waiting for me. My evening continued with washing dishes, folding laundry, and grocery shopping. My husband, on the other hand, took our son to the park — and that was it for him.
As I drove home with the groceries, all I could think about was how unbalanced our chore distribution was. At least he was spending time with our son, I consoled myself.
