Lately, I have a sh*t list. It is mostly comprised of things I don’t give a sh*t about. Some people call it the F*ck It Bucket, but whatever name we use, it’s important to have one right now.

I started formulating an informal sh*t list as an economic protest. Using apps like Goods Unite Us, I started evaluating the companies I was supporting with my hard-earned money. It was a revealing exercise, and what it revealed is that I had been spending too many years not looking closely enough at the impact of my choices. Every company that has aligned with the current government can kiss my substantial ass. I added them to the sh*t list, which means that I won’t be spending any of my money with them if at all possible (and it’s usually possible).

My children wanted to go out to get fast food the other day, and I had to evaluate every single option in my area. There was only one fast food restaurant that made the cut. My children know we won’t darken the doors, or drive-thru lanes, of the others. While eating locally is my preference, sometimes I want to oblige their Happy Meal-equivalent desires.

There are a lot of people and places on my list. This list isn’t for revenge. It’s a form…
