You Aren’t Crazy — You’re Just in a “Situationship”
I’m done being the “chill girl”.
“So, what are we?” — I asked him the classic question one day.
He seemed annoyed and didn’t want to engage in the conversation. We had been seeing each other for months at that point, I honestly felt stupid for even asking such a question.
I am usually the type of person who wouldn’t care about the “girlfriend” title. But I was done being the “chill girl”. I was tired of acting like I was OK when he said we were not that serious.
Umm, excuse me? You met and spent time with my mother while discussing my childhood photos. Yet you acted like this wasn’t a real relationship.
It took me a while to figure out that I was indeed in a situationship. It was a hard pill to swallow because I used to preach to my friends not to be in one. Yet there I was, settling for less than what I deserved.
People who’re in situationship tend to be in denial. Instead of accepting the reality of their current situationship, they convince themselves that it’s more than just that. They start obsessing about the future of the relationship a lot more.
It’s emotionally draining if you ask me.
