A Hundred Lessons: Doing Something I Was Afraid of
Day 100 — The beginning.
Preface.
This journey is inspired by Neil Pasricha’s blog, 1000 Awesome Things. I recently listened to Alie Ward’s podcast, Ologies, where she interviews Neil. He created his first blog in 2008 when he was going through an extremely hard time — a sudden divorce and the loss of his best friend’s life.
Neil needed a pick-me-up. He needed a reason to believe in goodness, so he created a blog. It later led to publishing books and becoming a public speaker!
His purpose for starting this journey was simple. It inspired me to remember that your reason for creating doesn’t have to be altruistic or world-changing. It can simply be to remember the good.
So, I’m beginning my pursuit of goodness on article 100 (I chose 100 instead of 1000 because I’m a slow poke and 1000 would take me a decade). In each post, I’ll write about where I found a lesson. Some lessons I’ve been learning forever and some are brand new.
This journey is to inspire the habit of asking, What can I learn here, instead of falling into victimhood or getting lost in monotony. Always seek to find growth.
And also to find things along the way that perhaps you never expected to find.
