As a teenager she doubted herself,
She doubted her abilities.
When she was told it could not be done,
She gave up before she had begun.

Later she wanted to test herself,
She wanted to see if she could do it,
Everything she was told she could not do.
They told her that she was not strong,
She exercised every day and proved them wrong.

At school they told her maths was tough,
She was never going to be good enough.
She was told that science was not for her,
This was told to her loud and clear.
She proved them all wrong by doing the impossible.
Working with microscopes, chemicals, and a crucible.
She was a Star Student and that was not enough.
She practiced maths the simple and the tough,
She got a Master’s degree in science,
Her success made her critics wince.
Without a shadow of a doubt,
She had a lot to be proud of.
