The multi-facets of womanhood

Like the spice rack on your counter
or in your closet
each differently scented, beautifully
colored, tasteful, and bold
holding up a meal like a tree trunk
supporting its branches extending its
arms to catch the sunlight
like a child hoping to be liked
and loved with tenderness and care
and cherished.

She fills the definition of mother,
friend, sister, niece, aunt, or grandmother
she lives from her soul and spritzes
the day in ribbons of light
her caring heart lifts the bane of men
she would face danger and death
for children, a swordswoman of
truth and justice
her strength is one of honor and
respect
she lives close to the sun and her
light shines like a beacon of hope
in the world
she carries her gift with a heart that
makes room for the fallen
never letting her heart down by keeping
her chin upward
she steels her strength against terror
raising her back to brace the storm
she floats on the wind, a temptress of
love and devotion to kindle your
heart in a rapture of comfort and
peace
her wisdom astounds and fills your
troubles with its medicine
carrying you home to a warm
safe place
you melt in…
