One second, you’re you — the person you’ve always known — and the next, you’re someone’s entire world.

Becoming a mom has been the most transformative experience of my life. It’s a journey filled with overwhelming love, immense joy, and, sometimes, unexpected challenges.

Who I am is forever intertwined with my son.

I am his world, and he is mine. Looking back, there are things I wish I had known before I held my baby in my arms for the first time.

If you’re about to embark on this beautiful adventure, here are some things I wish someone had told me.

Emotions and love are on steroids.

Seeing my son for the first time was overwhelming. See, I am not one who feels comfortable showing emotions in front of strangers, and the birth of my son was no exception.

While my partner teared up, I had my guard up.

Instead, I got very emotional on the first night at home. There we were, the three of us, a family. I thought I knew what love was before becoming a mom, but nothing could prepare me for the way my heart expanded at that very moment.
