Healing Happens in Stages
Letting go, embracing the new
I find myself getting impatient with healing but I am learning that healing doesn’t happen all at once. Instead, it moves through various stages. That goes for emotional healing as well. When events happen, they bring us to a place of uncertainty.
Life changes, like the end of a relationship, leaving a job, or losing a loved one, mark the ending of one chapter and the beginning of another. These types of life experiences can make us feel as if the rug has been pulled out from under our feet.
Healing happens in stages
When going through a life-altering event, we need to give ourselves time. Healing happens a little here and a little there. It comes when we can tune in and pay attention to our needs.
Remember it takes time to learn how to consistently practice self-care.
Don’t be impatient with your healing process. I have done this many times. Getting impatient with my body for not healing from major surgery fast enough. Or getting impatient when I feel sad over the loss of a loved one.
