I Went to Australia, What it’s Like Down Under
The lucky country
It’s winter in Melbourne Australia but you wouldn't know it, the high for today is 57 degrees and sunny. We did have rain yesterday, but it was still warm in the mid-50s. Melbourne is a very walkable city and the weather gave me the perfect opportunity to explore.
I’ve been soaking up the culture for two weeks. Visiting museums, gardens, shops, markets, and everything else I can squeeze into my two weeks here.
Here are some things that stood out to me that were very different compared to the US, most of them were delightful but some were a little confusing!
Birds sound a lot different
When I went to my first park, Carlton Gardens, I thought someone was playing a flute. Only it was coming from two different directions. I eventually realized it was a bird! Specifically, an Australian Magpie.
Fast Walkers
People walk very fast in Melbourne. I thought I was a fast walker, but I had to pick up my pace when I was walking places. This city…
